iPhoto ’11 users got an early holiday gift on Tuesday as Apple released iPhoto 9.1.1, the latest update to the company’s consumer photo software.

It was originally included in every Mac from late 2002 to early 2015, when Apple discontinued it and replaced it with Apple Photos. Overall, iPhoto 9.1.1’s focus is stability, but it throws a couple feature enhancements into the mix. I know the newest iPhoto isn't that expensive but I don't use it for anything at all so I don't want to pay the $16 for an application I don't use. EDIT: iCloud doesn't work with iPhoto 8 (which is what came on my computer) and the only way I know to use iCloud to share photos is to buy the newest version of iPhoto. When Apple executives released the new application called Photos in the spring of 2015, they left open a very short window in which iPhoto fans could download and install version 9.6.1 of iPhoto, which is the end of the line for that application. What's new in iPhoto 9.4.3: Photos can now be deleted from My Photo Stream by dragging to the Trash; Photos can now be exported from Photo Stream using the Export command in the File menu; RAW images manually imported from My Photo Stream are now editable; Fixes a bug that could cause manually-rotated photos to appear unrotated when shared to.

Among the bug fixes in iPhoto 9.1.1 are improved reliability when upgrading your library from a previous version, correct preservation of Events sort order after upgrading, a fix for an issue where duplicate photos ended up being added to a MobileMe album, and resolution for a problem where text-formatting controls became inaccessible when editing a calendar. In addition, Event titles displayed in headers can be edited in the Photos view, the scrolling overlay correctly displays ratings when photos are sorted by rating, and photos are now sorted correctly when you change a rating and then sort the photos by rating.

Apple recommends the 62.09MB update for all users of iPhoto ’11; iPhoto 9.1.1 requires Mac OS X 10.6.3 or later and can be downloaded via Software Update or from Apple’s support downloads site.
