Microsoft Word Menu Bar Missing

Generally, when you open Microsoft Word, the menu bar will automatically appear at the top. However, if the menu bar doesn't appear you can fix it by clicking the ribbon icon next to the exit button. To redisplay, select ' Show tab ribbon ' so that the missing menu bar will appear again. From your description, you are using a version of Word that has a menu and toolbars. If only toolbars are missing, but you still have the menu bar (the one that says File Edit View, etc.), then right-click on that and choose Standard and Formatting from the list of toolbars. These are the two that are displayed by default.
